[Ecological Environment 　　Wuzhong District has a extensive water surface of Taihu Lake and meandering and pretty peaks and islands. Among the 36,000 hectares of water territory of Taihu Lake, Wuzhong has three fifth of the total; among the 72 hill peaks around Taihu Lake, Wuzhong owns 58; among the 13 scenic spots around Taihu Lake, the 6 main sites of Jinting, East Hill, Guangfu, Mudu, Luzhi and Shihu Lake are located in Wuzhong District. Wuzhong District is a " National Eco Exemplary Area " and a National Healthy City (District). 　　Wuzhong District has 1 State-level tourist resort, 1 State-level modern agriculture exemplary park, 1 State geologic park, 2 state forest parks, 3 State Grade-AAAA scenic spots, 4 State agricultural tourist exemplary spots and 2 provincial-level natural reserves, with over 50 scenic spots opening to public. The ancient water-land towns of Mudu, Luzhi, etc and ancient Taihu Lake villages of Luxiang and Mingyue Lough have still preserved the unique charming style of a water land south of Yangtze River. The 78km eco-landscape Taihu Lake-rim leisurely corridor with the Suzhou Taihu State Tourist Resort as its center has provided many a visitor with a fresh and comfortable holiday-making and refreshing environment. Over recent years, it has successfully hosted many tourist festivals and sports/recreational activities such as Suzhou Taihu Plum Flower Festival, Dongting (Hill) Green Snail Tea Culture Tourist Festival, Military Sage Sun Wu Culture Festival, Luzhi Water-Land Garment & Culture Tourist Festival, Tourist Festival for China Ancient Garden Town of Mudu, Taihu Fishing-Ban Lifting Festival, Around-Taihu World Roller Skating Marathon Race, etc. 　　Wuzhong District is the origin of Dongting (Hill) Green Snail Tea; and many of its local specialties such as " Three White Foods from Taihu Lake " (i.e. silvery fish, white fish and white shrimp), fresh-water hairy crab, Taihu water shield, Baisha (white powdered flesh) loquat, black purple bayberry, Dongting (Cave Court) red orange, gingko seed, chestnut, etc. have their good names spread far and wide. The traditional arts and crafts such as Suzhou embroidery, woven embroidery, wood carving, stone carving, brick carving, fruit-stone carving, Taihu pearl, folk calligraphy and painting, and straw plaited article are of superb artisanship. They are in great favor of tourist public.
